Let's talk about how the body can store years of emotions, how to release them, and how this can affect overall health over time.

Why is emotional expression an important part of being human?
Emotional expression is an integral part of being human. Our emotions serve as a direct interpretation of the environment around us. However, the stress we encounter in our daily lives often leaves us feeling like we lack control over our feelings. This sense of helplessness and discouragement can be overwhelming.
Consider this scenario: You’re stuck in traffic, and suddenly, a car cuts right in front of you. Not a pleasant experience, right? Initially, you might feel an instant surge of energy, but once that initial shock subsides, you may find yourself feeling on edge the remainder of the day, seemingly without reason. Why does this happen?
Emotional regulation refers to the process of seeking to influence which emotions you have, when you have them, and how you experience them. When we experience emotions that we can't fully understand or process, emotions can get "stuck" in our brain in the form of neural pathways. These pathways act as a filing system in the nervous system, allowing for communication between other systems in our body. If we repeatedly feel an emotion over a period of time, it can develop into an emotional pattern. Understanding this process can empower us to navigate our emotions more effectively and break free from negative emotional patterns that no longer serve us.
How does my nervous system adapt to my emotional patterns?
Many people are familiar with the "fight or flight" response, but there can be a third "freeze" response as well. This is a system our brain has in place to automatically react to stress within our environment. The primary role of our nervous system is to adapt to the stimuli we encounter. However, if we consistently introduce stress into our lives through unregulated emotions, our nervous system’s capacity to adapt diminishes significantly.

Let’s use an analogy: Imagine a bucket. This bucket represents your ability to handle stress. Now, consider all the stressful moments you encounter throughout the day. Each of these moments adds water to your bucket. Similarly, our nervous system adapts to stress. Some people might have a water bottle-sized capacity, while others have a 10-gallon jug!
But here’s the catch: It doesn’t matter how much capacity you have if you’re unable to properly regulate emotional stress. We can never completely eliminate stress from our environment, but we can increase our awareness when we handle it by cultivating healthy tools to process emotions.
What are some things I can do to increase my emotional awareness?
Understanding emotions can be hard, especially with all the noise we encounter every day. Start by tuning into your own body. Ask yourself: “How do I feel today?” Sometimes, the simplest questions lead to profound insights. Additionally, consider practicing meditation. Find a quiet space—bonus points if it’s outdoors—and sit in silence, free from distractions. No guided meditations or journals—just be present with yourself. And remember, if you ever feel stuck in your emotional patterns, seeking help is a valuable step toward growth and well-being.
When we have deep suppressed emotional patterns, sometimes we aren't even aware of, it can be hard to understand how to work through them. This is why Energetic Emotional Release can be a powerful tool in your healing journey.
What is an Energetic Emotional Release session and how does this connect to Chiropractic?
An Emotional Release Session is not a substitute for professional therapy by any means, but it can offer a unique approach to holistic living and neurological health. Energetic Emotional Release is a technique that uses a series of yes or no questions to interpret and read your neurological patterns. Unlike traditional therapy, this technique doesn’t directly “treat” emotions or symptoms. Instead, it brings to light what lies beneath the neurological surface, allowing the nervous system to function optimally.
In simpler terms, Energetic Emotional Release focuses on weakened physiological areas of the body and biofield, which become vulnerable due to prolonged emotional patterns. These patterns may or may not manifest with physical symptoms.
A typical emotional release session will use muscle testing—this is a feedback loop in your brain that allows for interpretation of your nervous system through muscle weakness. If a neural pathway is "flagged," the tested muscle will become weak notifying the practitioner to investigate that neural pathway further. If you'd like to read more about

Remember, our nervous system doesn't stop processing information at the edge of our body. We constantly absorb energy from our external environment. Everything in the universe is energy in motion, including our own biofield—the energy field emitted by our body, sometimes referred to as an aura or magnetic field. Interestingly, your biofield can store emotions and events that aren’t even your own! Empaths, does this sound familiar?
Energetic Emotional Release aims to clear not only your nervous system but also your biofield, allowing you to better adapt to your environment and rewrite emotional patterns within the brain. This approach beautifully complements chiropractic care.
Chiropractic focuses on removing interference from the nervous system through hands-on adjustments. It directly addresses the dense physical matter of our body. In contrast, Energetic Emotional Release specifically targets the biofield surrounding your body. Together, these practices can effectively rewrite neurological patterns, promoting a healthier mind, body, and spirit.
