Chiropractic - how can we build a more holistic approach to health.

Why should I see a chiropractor?
Have you felt lost with all the noise surrounding health recently? It seems like every where we look we are bombarded with news about global sickness. This is perpetuating a mindset that emphasizes our bodies' weakness. What if we actually honored and acknowledged our bodies innate ability to heal? That's where a chiropractor comes in. I believe in empowering a patient with the knowledge of their bodies innate ability to heal.
Where did chiropractic care come from?
Chiropractic, established by D.D. Palmer in 1895, has roots that extend beyond modern times. Evidence suggests that “bone setting” practices existed centuries before formal chiropractic techniques emerged. Ancient cultures in China, Greece, and Egypt recognized the importance of spinal adjustments for overall well-being.

Chiropractic care aligns with the concept of vitalism—the belief that the body possesses an inherent ability to heal itself. By delivering spinal adjustments, chiropractors aim to remove interference from the nervous system. When communication pathways within the body are unobstructed, optimal function can take place.
How is my health related to my spine?
Your health is both directly and indirectly influenced by your nervous system. The health of our nervous system directly impacts overall well-being. Any interference or instability within this system disrupts normal function and weakens our resistance to disease. When the nervous system operates optimally, stress accumulation in other bodily systems decreases.
The chiropractic adjustment applies force to the spine in order restore the spine to a more functional and stable position. This allows for a more optimal flow of communication between mind and body. When the nervous system is operating at it's highest level of function, it enables the body to function at a more optimal level and heal through by its own innate ability.

Chiropractic care can resolve a variety of symptoms- the most common one being back pain. Chiropractic care can actually alleviate a lot of other symptoms such as headaches, sleep disorders, pregnancy related pain and discomfort, allergies, digestive issues, and muscle pain. The thing is, symptoms are the last to show up and first to leave when it comes to the body giving us signals that something is wrong. Neurology-based chiropractic care is highly effective in preventing and avoiding symptoms in the first place due to addressing the root cause.
The most common benefits of chiropractic care:
Reduce Stress
Improve Movement
Reduce Headaches
Digestive Health
Reduce Pain Medication
Pregnancy pain relief
Immune Function
How often do I have to see a Chiropractor?
Healing doesn't follow a linear trajectory; as dynamic living beings, it takes time to properly care for our nervous system. Many symptoms prompting a visit to a chiropractor may stem from chronic issues that have lain dormant under the surface for years. Your body is amazing with it's ability to store information in the form of physical neural patterns—connections formed within the brain that activate to carry out functions like breathing, walking, and even experiencing emotions. Our brains form neural patterns to assign meaning to specific actions. The more we utilize these connections—whether it's worrying over an exam failure or perfecting our golf swing—the stronger they become. Your brain will physically reinforce those highly used pathways through a process called myelination, a mechanism for neural plasticity. This emphasizes the importance of being mindful of our physical, chemical, and emotional habits.
Chiropractic care recognizes this complexity and requires patience. It involves unraveling harmful ingrained neural pathways to rebuild positive, healthy ones. Chiropractic adjustments target "stuck" neural pathways within the nervous system, allowing the body's innate ability to forge new pathways. When combined with deliberate attention to nutrition, exercise, toxin elimination, and emotional well-being, chiropractic care becomes a potent catalyst for embracing the life you were meant to live.
What are the three stages of chiropractic care?
The Relief phase of chiropractic care primarily targets pain alleviation, aiming to mitigate symptoms such as pain, stiffness, and discomfort. This phase is essential for providing immediate relief and restoring functionality to daily activities. However, it only serves as the initial step in addressing the underlying causes of these symptoms, as the neural pathways responsible for discomfort are merely managed rather than fully addressed.
Transitioning into the Recovery phase, the focus shifts towards correcting harmful neural patterns established over time. By addressing chronic neural patterns, we pave the way for the establishment of healthier neural patterns through a combination of adjustments, exercises, dietary adjustments, toxin elimination, and emotional regulation. While the frequency of visits may decrease during this phase, the importance of laying the groundwork for new, healthy neural pathways remains paramount.
The Wellness phase represents the optimal state for individuals to strive towards. Here, the primary focus is on maintaining and further developing established healthy neural patterns. The goal is to enhance one's capacity to adapt to physical, chemical, and emotional stress encountered in the external environment. Although the frequency of visits may decrease during this phase, they remain essential to sustaining overall well-being.

Our world is inundated with external stressors, ranging from prolonged sitting to chemicals in processed foods and the pervasive influence of dopamine culture. Opting for chiropractic care entails embracing a lifestyle change rather than seeking a quick fix to all your problems.
As a chiropractor specializing in nervous system health, my objective is to provide comprehensive support to your nervous system, enabling optimal function across all bodily systems.
